One of those weird & wonderful kid's foods that definitely isn't just for kids! With tomato paste and mustard in the sauce, it's got all the right hot dog flavors.

medium yellow onion
finely diced

package hot dogs or other sausages
12-16 oz

tomato paste

allspice

ground black pepper

all-purpose flour

water

cup
whole milk
or half-and-half

mustard
Instructions
Dice onions & slice hot dogs to your desired thickness.
Melt butter in a large sauce pan over medium heat. Add onions and cook until softened, 3-5 minutes.
Add hot dog slices and continue to cook until lightly browned.
Add tomato paste, allspice, salt and pepper. Stir until well combined and cook for a few more minutes to let the tomato paste lightly caramelize.
Add flour, mix until fully combined.
Slowly add in water, whisking constantly. The sauce will be fairly thick and pasty.
Add the milk and mustard. Simmer until thickened and slightly reduced. Taste and add more salt and pepper if needed.
Serve over boiled or mashed potatoes!
Notes
1. Use any variety of hot dogs or sausages in this dish to adjust the flavor to your preference!
